Southern Oregon Golf Course Guide
On A Klamath Vacation

When you play on a Southern Oregon Golf Course you will play on some of most beautiful holes in Oregon. On just about every hole you have a panoramic view of a mountain or a lake. The diversity of Oregon golf courses ranges from the Arnold Palmer designed course at the Running Y Ranch to a 9-hole course near the border of Oregon and California and everything in between.

As a golfer (I’m lucky to break 100) I’m always looking to make the perfect shot or to make that elusive hole-in-one. Before moving to Oregon I was used to playing year round but now I have to adjust my game to play whenever the weather warms up and the snow has melted.

The following Oregon golf courses are located in Klamath Falls, Oregon, or within a short distance from town. The best time to play is anytime you can get on the course. Klamath Falls is the Sunshine Capital of Oregon and whenever the temperature gets above 50 degrees the courses are usually full of golfers.

Running Y Ranch Golf

Running Y Golf Klamath Falls, Oregon The Running Y Golf course is a fun course to play. I highly recommend using a golf cart as the course is hilly and long and the distance between holes is quite lengthy. This public course offers a golf shop, private lessons, and several golf packages – Swing Into Spring, Stay & Play, Peak Season, and Par & Pamper.

Some of my favorite holes are #9, #12, and #17. On the #9 tee you think you can drive the ball all the way to the hole since the fairway is downhill. #12 is a short par 3 where the tee is above the hole. And, #17 is the signature hole where you have to decide to either drive down the right or left fairway. Click here for a pdf of the scorecard.

A great family activity is the challenging 18-hole miniature golf course. It features rolling hills, sand traps, and water hazards. It’s unlike any miniature golf course you’ve ever played. Click here for more information.

Harbor Links Golf Course

Harbor Links Golf Course, Klamath Falls, Oregon The Harbor Links golf course is located on the north end of town and is a favorite Klamath Falls public golf course. The course is flat with spectacular views of the Cascade Mountains. If you play like I do be sure to bring plenty of extra balls since there is water on 15 of the 18 holes. Shield Crest Golf Course

Shield Crest Golf Course, Klamath Falls, Oregon The Shield Crest golf course is located on Highway 140 east of Klamath Falls, Oregon. It is under new management and is one of the best conditioned golf courses in the area. This Oregon golf course is a public course and features a golf shop and a restaurant, with monthly memberships for Junior, Single, Family, Junior Family, and Super Senior Family members. Reames Golf and Country Club

The Reames Golf and Country Club is the only private golf course in the Klamath Basin. I haven’t played on this course but know several friends who have. This Oregon golf course is located just outside Klamath Falls, Oregon, near the intersection of Highway 97 and Highway 140. The country club features a dining room, lounge, separate men’s and women’s locker rooms, banquet facilities, and an outdoor swimming pool.

Indian Camp Golf Course

Indian Camp Golf Sign The Indian Camp Golf Course is a public 9-hole course located just south of the border of Oregon and is about 30 minutes from Klamath Falls, Oregon. This par 3 course has spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and is on the way to the Lava Beds National Monument. The course has daily rates for 9 holes, 18 holes, and all day rates, as well as Senior rates and cart and club rentals. Click here for more information.

Round Lake Golf Course

The Round Lake Golf Course is a public 9-hole course located off Highway 62 west of Klamath Falls, Oregon. This Oregon golf course is under new management and features a club house and bar. The course will be open starting the first week of Spring 2010. The par 3 course is challenging in that it has sloped greens and it is better to be below the hole than above the hole.
