A Young Bride Comes to Oregon

by Charlene Rott
(Klamath Falls, OR)

Gorgeous Crater Lake

Gorgeous Crater Lake

My husband (Dave) and I were newly weds (now married 37 years) when we flew out from New York to Oregon to visit his parents. They took us to Crater Lake for my first look at this awesome handiwork of God. I stood in total awe at the beauty all around but especially the size and color, such a deep rich blue. My father-in-law took me to the lovely gift shop there and bought me a myrtlewood salad bowl, which I still have today. I had never heard of myrtlewood before and that day learned the myrtlewood tree is unique to two places in the world - The Holy Land and a small section of the Pacific Northwest between Coos Bay, Oregon and San Francisco, California along the coastal area. Since making Oregon our permanent home in 1981, Crater Lake is one of our favorite places to visit and take visitors to. Don't come to Oregon without going to Crater Lake.
